The Fredenstein Bento 2 is a high performance two module carrier for 500 Series modules. The unit can accept a maximum of 2 modules. The Bento 2 features several important upgrades compared with third party products. Universal power supply: Mains voltages range from 90V AC to 240V AC, 50 to 60 Hz. Increased output currents: +/-16V DC 0.9A and +48V DC 0.033A Additional TRS inputs and outputs, parallel to the XLR connectors. Built-in Audio Routing: Slot 1 can be daisy-chained to slot 2 by simply flipping a switch on the back-panel. Compressor buss linking: Compressor modules can be linked by engaging a switch on the back-panel as well. Secondary power-switch and voltage indicators are on the front-panel.

Being admirers of the fully balanced, transformerless circuits found in highly acclaimed recording consoles, we chose to use a similar topology. We began with a high speed input stage that picks up lots of detail and nuance, and then followed it with a high current output stage. We also like classic transformer-based designs because of the characteristic they lend to the audio signal. Because of this, we added a 600 ohm, M-6 silicon steel output transformer to give the audio a thick quality that’s reminiscent of a prized vintage preamp. It’s the best of both worlds in our opinion. The Auteur 500 is a single channel, 500 series preamp and features an instrument input, phase, +48VDC phantom power, and a 10dB input signal pad.
