Hey Labfans, its time for UAD – 1176 Classic Limiter Plug-In Collection
If you are new to the lab post ,read this https://www.gearevu.littlefishaudio.com/must-read-welcome-to-my-lab-updated/
Here we can see some action, that is maessured in input steps from mix to max
In general the response is quite flat, also based on the steepness of the highs, it dictates oversampling functionality
No noise modeling (for the general noise floor original 1176s have it might not be such a bad thing).
Phase is nominal
Messured in input steps
We can see that THD content exists, its in normal levels
Character wise its rich and ‘full’
Here is a THD plot of ALL BUTTONS IN with Max fast attack/release
Here is the compressor envelope
And above the all buttons envelope
This unit meets the analogue modeling criteria.
Personal Quote: Well all analogue unit difer (even in the same production line) so a real cross reference can be done only with the particular one UAD used. Other than that personally I expected less even harmonics THD wise (based on my original hardware revesion A analysis, two of them) but none the less the work is there. Great job Universal Audio!
